O enigmático uiraçu-falso

O uiraçu-falso ou gavião-real-falso (Morphnus guianensis) é uma poderosa e rara águia florestal. Podendo chegar a medir 89cm de comprimento, não pensamos o quão difícil é registrar essa espécie, que se assemelha tanto ao gavião-real.
UM TANTO DIVERSIFICADO! O uiraçu pode ser encontrado em diversos morfos. Mas oque é isso?
São variações de plumagem, e isso é muito comum em rapinantes. Podem se apresentar somente na fase juvenil, nos casos de mimetismo do gavião-gato (Leptodon cayanensis), ou ficam pela vida toda, nos casos de variações na melanina (pigmento negro).
ENIGMÁTICO E UM TANTO TÍMIDO! É uma águia que pode medir de 71 a 89 cm de comprimento, e pesar de 1275 g (macho) e 1750 a 1948 g (fêmea).
Mesmo com esse tamanho, é uma espécie difícil de ser observada em campo. Ele fica oculto em um poleiro para procurar suas presas e quase não se escuta a sua vocalização.
MAS SERÁ QUE ELE É DIFÍCIL DE SER VISTO SÓ POR CAUSA DOS HÁBITOS? Infelizmente não.
As populações de uiraçu sofrem grande impacto com a perda e a destruição de seu habitat. Podemos citar a pressão da caça de suas presas e o avanço humano próximo as regiões de ninhos na Amazônia e principalmente nos últimos remanescentes de Mata Atlântica no sudeste do Brasil, como um fator preocupante.
